May brings the start of MSP’s Career Service programming. Career Services events are designed to help students find a job after graduation and includes the MSP career fair on June 9th. These events are applicable to students in all stages of their education, including trying to figure out what type of practice one wants to work in. All students are encouraged to take advantage of these events, not just those graduating this summer. To get the most out of Career Service programming, make sure to check out these tips.
Prep Your Materials
Take a moment to make sure you’re putting your best foot forward by reviewing your resume/CV. Since this is often the first thing a potential employer will view it’s important to make sure all information is up-to-date and displayed professionally. Need help? Email your resume (as a word document) to Kinsey during the month of May (current students only) or attend the Compelling Cover Letters and Resumes workshop on May 23rd.
Review The Schedule And Plan Accordingly
It’s important for students to plan ahead to balance their busy schedules. Take time to look over the full calendar of Career Services events and make note of which ones you want to attend. This calendar will be updated throughout the semester as dates are finalized with presenters. Finalized presentation dates and times will also be highlighted in the community opportunities emails sent to students on Fridays.
Prepare For Licensure Exams
An important aspect of pursuing a career in psychology is becoming licensed by passing the EPPP and/or BCBA Exam. Throughout the third semester, MSP offers events to help students prepare to take these exams
- Studying for BCBA: May 15 (5 – 6 PM) – Hannah Riesser MA, BCBA (MA with ABA ’21, current PsyD 2) will be sharing her tips for studying for the BCBA exam in room 3.
- How to Tackle the EPPP: May 16 (12:30 – 1:30 PM) – Kristie Wyler, MA, LLP (’21) will share her tips for studying for the EPPP in room 3.
- EPPP Study Group: Mondays at 4 PM – Becca Jarvis (current PsyD 3) passed the EPPP at the doctoral level on her first try. She is leading an eight-week free EPPP study group.

Attend The Career Fair
The Career Fair is your opportunity to network with over 20 local employers who are specifically interested in hiring MSP alums. Make sure to dress professionally and come prepared with copies of your resume. Registration for the career fair will open in early May!
