Example of Limits of Presentation
Example Presentation Topic:
Neurodiversity & Autism
Example of Limits of Presentation
I do not personally have autism so I cannot speak from direct experience as a member of the community. I have limited knowledge about neurodiversity as it applies to other types of neurological differences, such as ADHD. I have limited knowledge of neurodiversity as it applies to cultures outside of the US and Canada. However, I am aware that autism is viewed differently in other cultures.

Example Presentation Topic:
Working with clients experiencing homelessness, a view on psychological services in relation to deep poverty.
APA Multicultural Guidelines Met:
Guideline 2: As someone who was raised in a family that was upper-middle class, I grew up with a lot of misconceptions of how class and status related to an individual. When I started working with clients suffering from poverty, I went through trainings and workshops to process my own biases and assumptions. Through those efforts, as well as getting to know individuals in the community, I have been able to identify my knowledge limitations and how they may affect my clinical practice when working with clients in poverty. Now I present to other clinicians on helping them understand their own biases in this area.
Guideline 4: I have completed research projects, coursework and continuing education on the role that social and physical environments play into the lives of economically impoverished individuals.
Guideline 8: I have kept up to date on studies and research done on how people experiencing homelessness or deep poverty effect their developmental stages and life transitions. There are some common life transitions that are found and I have learned and implemented techniques on how best to assist a client through these transitions. These stages and transitions play a large role in how a person experiencing homelessness identifies themselves. I have found it very important to discuss this with clients as part of the therapeutic process.
