Supervisor: Dr. Mike Tyler, Vice President of Academics
Appointment: September 2024 – July 2025
Stipend/Payment: $15,960.00 (paid in equal monthly installments September – July)
Hours: 10 hours per week
Job Description
The Graduate Assistant provides support to faculty and students engaging in research. Reporting directly to Dr. Mike Tyler, the Graduate Assistant assists in increasing student involvement in conducting and disseminating research, promoting awareness of scholarship and research opportunities and developing and planning educational programs that support student research interests.
Position Responsibilities
- Will participate with one or more faculty members as part of a research team to develop knowledge and skills in research processes
- Assist in the development and implementation of events that support, and highlight research in psychology
- Collect and regularly share information about upcoming conferences, online trainings, and opportunities to increase student involvement in research and scholarship
- Assist in providing consultation to fellow students on research ideas, survey design, practicing interviewing techniques, etc.
- Provide guidance on poster development and layout
- In conjunction with MSP library staff and supervisor, will collect and compile information about faculty and student scholarly activities for the Annual Research Report
- Develop resources to support students in their research and development as scholars
- Present on research related topics and methodologies as needed
Position Qualifications
An individual applying for the position must meet the following qualifications:
- Incoming or current PsyD student in good academic standing with prior research experience
- Available to work 10 hours per week
- Work with a high level of discretion, confidentiality and ability to maintain professional/student boundaries
- Strong writing, research, technical and organization/administrative skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to include written and verbal communication
- Ability to network with other professionals and students
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Self-directed and autonomous, strong work ethic
- Reliable and flexible
