Book I would recommend: The Grasshopper Trap by Patrick F. McManus

Favorite Quote: “When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move. Your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth and tell the whole world: ‘No, you move.’” -Mark Twain

What would people be surprised to know about you?

In my off time, I like to 3D Print and airbrush miniatures for tabletop role playing games.

Name a cause you are passionate about.

I want to be an outlet for first responders to talk about the things they have seen and feel comfortable doing it. I also want to encourage adults to be comfortable to play more and not worry about it.

Why did you choose MSP?

Humanism is a model I have emulated as an instructor for years. It’s important to understand that we are more than the sum of our parts and I appreciate that focus here.

What do you want to do with your degree?

I want to be involved with trauma management with first responders through proactive and mental wellness programs. I intend to do this through group, CBT, EMDR, and one-on-one psychotherapy.

How did you first get interested in the mental health profession?

As a paramedic I have managed many patients with mental health/brain health disorders. I then found in many cases that some of the providers of care were as sick as the patients we served. I felt we needed more people who have come from that arena to be able to get trained and go back to that arena becoming an outlet or resource for those that help others.
