June/July 2026

It’s time for our annual Year in Review! As we look back on each month of the academic year, the MSP community can reflect on the changes and growth we have experienced since September, both individually and as a community. Here’s a look at highlights from June and July 2026.

June 5th was our annual Career Fair. We connected 30 employers with 54 students during the fair.

The Cappuccino Man coffee cart was on campus for Spirit Week on June 8th and for Finals Week
on June 21st.

On June 11th, the Psi Chi chapter at MSP inducted their 30 new and 4 transfer members.

The ABPsi SC hosted a Juneteenth Celebration on June 12th. 

Other Highlights from June and July:

Candi Wilson, Director of Marketing, Communications, and Donor Management, and Carrie Pyeatt, Director of Strategic Initiatives, presented about Social Media & Networking on June 3rd.

The Psi Chi chapter  at MSP and Dr. Blackstock hosted Game Nights on June 9th and 10th.

On June 10th and July 16th, Dr. Stogner hosted Pizza with the Prez at lunch.

Dr. Mel Rutherford presented The Glass Cliff: One Transman’s Leadership Odyssey on June 17th.

IDEA and Student Engagement brought the Jubilee Detroit Food Truck to campus for dinner on June 16th.

Director of Clinic Operations and Outreach, Holly Tocco, participated in the Mental Health in Foodservice Panel with Southern Smoke Foundation and City Hospitality’s Foodservice Leadership Practicum.

On June 23rd, the Structural Racism Programming Committee hosted a Q&A on Systemic Racism in Education with author Shakir Bakari Williams.

ECO hosted a Composting Day workshop with Parker Jean, co-founder of Sanctuary Farms, on June 24th. 

Student Engagement hosted several Career Services events including The Glass Cliff: One Transman’s Leadership Odyssey with Dr. Mel Rutherford on June 17th, Billing for Clinical Services in the Insurance World with Elizabeth Rummel on June 25th, billing for master’s level psychologists with Dr. Johanna Buzolits on July 8th, and a Q& A with the state licensing board, LARA, on July 7th.

The MSP Clinic hosted their first-ever clini alumni event on June 27th. 

On July 1st, the Psi Chi Chapter at MSP hosted a Day in the Life of a PsyD Student panel. 

On July 16th, we had ice cream from Cool Jacks Ice Cream Cart.

Therapy dogs visited to campus on July 20th and 21st. 

Vice President of Services and Operations, Tami Jacobs, hosted Student Loan Lunch and Learns opportunities for students to learn more about recent changes in financial aid.  

Blogs: We celebrated Pride Month, Psi Chi Chapter Awards, and Disability Pride Month,  Kierra Poydras (MA ’25, PsyD 1) reflected on attending the Fred Gray Symposium, and Darren McCullough was in the Staff Spotlight.
