MSP is pleased to offer a wide variety of continuing education workshops to the local community. We call upon our faculty to share their expertise on a particular topic in the field of psychology that will benefit new grads and experienced practitioners alike.
Ryan Blackstock, PsyD, LP, CAADC, ICAADC has taught several workshops related to treating clients with substance abuse disorders, including Strategies for Sustaining Recovery, Comorbidity and Substance Abuse, and Existential Psychology and Substance Abuse Treatment. Dr. Blackstock combines his extensive experience working in the field of substance abuse recovery with his engaging teaching style to create thoughtful learning experiences. “I gained more insight about clients’ thought process in recovery. It was a very informative presentation,” shared one attendant.
Louise Weller, PhD, LP has run two workshops related to the treatment of trauma: Treating Trauma Related Mental Health Disorders with CPT and Identifying and Understanding Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Of her workshops, one attendee said, “This was one of the best continuing ed. classes.” Another participant praised how Dr. Weller’s workshop offered specific ideas that could be put into practice, “The materials can be put to use with clients immediately. This was a fantastic opportunity to learn about a timely modality.”
John Brennan, JD, LP brought his expertise on psychology and the law in a workshop entitled Psychology, Ethics, and the Law that covered the intersection of ethics in the field of psychology and possible legal consequences. One attendee said, “Outstanding. I don’t know when I’ve attended a workshop that was so beneficial.”
MSP CE workshops fulfill continuing education requirements for psychologists and are approved by the Michigan Certification Board for Addition Professionals (MCBAP) for 3 contact hours per workshop.
