What would people be surprised to know about you?
I swam competitively for seventeen years for seven different swim teams throughout my swimming career, and I am continuing to be involved by coaching my high school alma mater’s swim team.
Name a cause you are passionate about.
Through my work with eating disorders I am interested in making care for eating disorders more accessible, as well as further educating myself on how to do such care using a multicultural framework to accommodate those whose care is often overlooked and not adequately provided.
Why did you choose MSP?
After experiencing the MA program at MSP, I felt as if the doctorate program was an opportunity for me to not only become a clinician, but also as an individual looking to make a tangible impact on the Metro Detroit community. I truly felt at home at MSP from the first day during orientation, and I could not imagine a more fitting place for me to develop my clinical skills and grow into my individual and authentic self.
What do you plan to do with your degree?
I envision myself doing clinical work in Michigan to give back to my community and those surrounding. I would also like to do more research into community outreach and how to best advocate for those who often do not have access to mental health services.
What is your plan after graduation?
I ultimately would like to continue my work with eating disorders, as the need for these services are proven to be of need in Metro Detroit and Michigan communities.
