What would people be surprised to know about you?

After the Beirut port export, I founded an NGO called Be Brave Beirut that provided remote free, and anonymous emotional support to whoever might need it.

Name a cause you are passionate about.

I am passionate about helping individuals suffering in silence. My aim was to give back to my society and help those in need by providing my services.

Why did you choose MSP?

I chose to attend MSP because it has an exhaustive PsyD program. I also wanted to move from Lebanon to live in Michigan and follow in my late grandmother’s footsteps.

What do you want to do with your degree?

Once I obtain my doctorate, my main immediate intentions are to obtain maximum experience, get my license, and begin practicing in a professional organization or in a private clinic. I aim to keep raising awareness in populations that are primarily apathetic to mental health issues and to chip away at their stigmas.

As for my long-term intentions, I aim to someday upgrade my initiative into a registered Lebanese NGO, and work as a psychologist at both BBB and private practice to help people recover from traumatic experiences. With these experiences, I wish to increase my knowledge of conducting emergency crisis consultations and acquiring awareness of the interventions through clinical observations and training.

It is through the MSP that I hope to learn different therapeutic approaches that assist recovery and promote subjective development and well-being. I am hopeful that this PsyD program will give me real-world experience as well as teach me more about ethics in the practice of psychology.

What are you most looking forward to about your program?

I look forward to growing on a personal and professional level, learning more about inclusivity, diversity, and equality, and becoming more empathetic.
