Hometown: Kalamazoo, MI

Program: MA

Book I would recommend: A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

Favorite Quote:  “Great moments… are born from great opportunity. And that’s what you have here, tonight, boys. That’s what you’ve earned here tonight. One game. If we played ’em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight.” -Herb Brooks, Miracle

What would people be surprised to know about you?

People would be surprised to know that I race sailboats competitively in the summers. Also, when I was 12 years old I won the Butterfly (type of sailboat) National regatta, so I am a national champion in small boat sailing.

Name a cause you are passionate about.

A cause that I am passionate about is helping adolescents and families through traumatic circumstances, such as the loss of a child or family member, to promote happiness and well-being in all aspects of life.

Why did you choose MSP?

I choose to attend the full-time master’s program at MSP because of the location of the school, the school’s outstanding academic reputation, and the ability to complete my MA program in an accelerated 11-month time span.

What do you want to do with your degree?

Once I earn my master’s degree I plan to either work full-time and earn my full license as a clinical psychologist or continue my education by pursuing my doctorate in clinical psychology. In the future, I hope to work in / own my own private practice.

What are you most looking forward to about your program?

I am most looking forward to the small and intimate nature of the program at MSP and having the opportunity to forge and cultivate relationships with my fellow peers as well as my professors.
