What would people be surprised to know about you?
I love to pick up new skills and learn languages! This past year, I picked up crochet and embroidery and am officially a member of the Michael’s Maker’s Circle (an online community for crafters). I’m currently reviewing my French and learning Greek on Duolingo, just for fun! I’m hoping to begin to learn ASL soon as well.
Name a cause you are passionate about.
I am incredibly passionate about supporting the rights, visibility, and acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community. The majority of my friends, including myself, identify as part of the community, and I am committed to fighting for and defending the rights, fair treatment, and access to adequate mental and physical health care for the community.
Why did you choose MSP?
I chose to attend MSP due to the emphasis on humanistic psychology, smaller class sizes, and collaborative approach to teaching. Some of my coworkers recently graduated from MSP and their positive experiences confirmed my decision to attend.
What do you want to do with your degree?
After graduation, I plan to continue to work with teens and adults diagnosed with autism and/or related disabilities. I would love to continue working with non-profits as well; I feel that I can do the most good in those settings.
How did you first get interested in the mental health profession?
Witnessing and supporting friends and family through mental illness inspired me to pursue mental health as a professional. I was tired of simply supporting them or being a shoulder to cry on; I wanted to actively combat the mental health crisis in our country.
