Highly Sensitive in a Highly Social World

Photo of Dr. HanesAmy Hanes (PsyS ’11, PsyD ’16) will be presenting Highly Sensitive in a Highly Social World on campus on October 25th from 12:45-1:45 PM in Room 2. This presentation will review best practices for working with highly sensitive persons (HSP) and social anxiety. This will include examining research-informed care, including reviewing the results of Dr. Hanes’s dissertation, The Impact of Social Anxiety and Sensory Processing Sensitivity on Quality of Life, findings.

Dr. Amy Hanes is the President of Thrive Therapy Group, P. C. She received her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Michigan School of Psychology. She has extensive clinical and neuro-rehabilitation experience working in a variety of settings including inpatient psychiatric, outpatient clinical, home and community environments, school and university counseling settings, adult day programs, health psychology, and PACE (Programs of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly).

Dr. Hanes specializes in providing psychotherapy to highly sensitive adults, victims of trauma, individuals who have suffered traumatic brain injuries as well as chronic health conditions, anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders and other psychiatric conditions. Dr. Hanes provides psychological evaluations, including bariatric presurgical evaluations, adult ADHD evaluation, personality testing, and adult autism screenings.
