What would people be surprised to know about you?
I play harmonica, trumpet, Ewi, and piano. I also am a trained opera singer who enjoys singing jazz.
Name a cause you are passionate about.
I am really passionate about the bond in relationships, whether it’s between a parent or child or a person with their religion. I want to understand more about relationships and what keeps those bonds alive.
Why did you choose MSP?
I chose MSP because it’s my family. I have grown so much during my time in the master’s program. I would love to see my continuing growth in the PsyD program.
What do you want to do with your degree?
I would like to work with adolescents and emerging adults dealing with anxiety or depression. Helping them face their fears and build confidence in their own abilities to navigate this world. I plan to work with all populations, but I want to make a major difference in the African-American community.
How did you first get interested in the mental health profession?
I did a direct study as an undergrad, where I worked with children in marginalized communities. I learned that my skills were needed in the field of psychology. In addition, I learned there are not many African-American men as represented in the field, and I want to be the change that I want to see.
