In collaboration with ECO, MSP’s Structural Racism Committee is bringing the Executive Director of Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice (DWEJ), Laprisha Daniels, MPH, MSW, to campus. Join us as we explore the intersection between racist and classist environmental policies, practices and processes and the direct link between economic health, environmental health and physical and mental health. Learn about ways to promote and advocate for health equity and racial equity in your role as a mental health professional. She will be presenting via zoom on March 29th, from 12:15 – 1:05 PM.
Daniels sets the strategic direction, and establishes and maintains strategic partnerships for DWEJ. She is responsible for disrupting and dismantling the status quo that leads to Detroiters bearing the undue burden of environmental hazards that ultimately impact their quality of life. She has over 15 years of experience as an MPH, MSW (Public Health Social Worker). She works to co-develop, implement and evaluate efforts focused on strategies to eliminate environmental health disparities in Detroit.
