We are excited to share that 100% of MSP doctoral students progressing to internship next year have matched to internship sites through the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) national matching program for the fourth year in a row. Of the 19 MSP doctoral students who participated in the APPIC Match, 18 obtained APA-accredited internships and 1 matched to a site that has already completed an APA accreditation site visit. In July/August, this group of students will spread out to join training teams in nine different states where they will contribute their talents and hone their skills in a blend of university counseling centers, veteran’s affairs medical centers, mental health agencies, and consortia.
For those who are unfamiliar with the APPIC Match, it is a national process through which doctoral students in clinical, counseling, and school psychology seek a year-long predoctoral internship placement. This year, just over 4,000 doctoral students from across the country participated in the APPIC Match to compete for just over 3,600 positions. Matching with these sites means all of our students will continue receiving the best possible training in their area of clinical interest.
The outcome of this year’s APPIC Match is a testament to the quality of training in our APA accredited doctoral program, the dedication of the faculty and staff who support our students, and most importantly, to the amazing and talented students who choose to join our community and push themselves toward excellence.
