Headshot of Tami JacobsGive us a snapshot of your professional/academic background.

I’ve been working in higher education for over 25 years. A significant portion of that time has been spent working with historically disadvantaged populations with a focus on recognizing and eliminating systemic barriers in education. Most recently, I served as the Dean of Student Success at Pierce College in Washington State.

What attracted you to working at MSP?

The welcoming and supportive environment that I experienced during the interview process.  I was also impressed with the diversity statements, goals, and activities.  DEI is very important to me.

Describe your role at MSP.

As the Vice President of Services & Operations, I’m responsible for the day-to-day operations of MSP. This includes monitoring, developing, and implementing policies, procedures, and practices designed to ensure the effective delivery of programs and services necessary that support the mission of the institution. I also play a role in administrative decision-making and collaborate on operational, budgetary, and personnel matters.

What are you looking forward to most in this position?

Meeting new people, learning about MSP, and supporting students and employees in their goals.

What is one thing that student’s might be surprised to know about you?

I climbed to the top of a mountain.  I will never forget the view at the top, the brilliant blue of the melted snow lake, and the exhilaration of sliding down the snow fields.
