Book I would recommend: Bearing the Unbearable by Joanne Cacciatore

Name a cause you are passionate about.

I am incredibly passionate about the bereaved population. We, in the United States, live in an anti-grief culture. It seems to be a time where people do not “do” discomfort. I am very passionate about feeling the feelings with bereaved individuals; especially, bereaved parents. My dissertation is The Experience of Losing Multiple Children. I am passionate about advocating for the bereaved population as grief continues to be pathologized and misunderstood by many.

What is your plan for after graduation?

My plan after graduation will be to work in a private setting, teach adjunct, and do consulting work, as well as some psychological assessment. One of my favorite aspects of working in this field is the diversity in employment opportunities.

What is your favorite MSP class and why?

My favorite MSP class has been the trauma course in the MA program as well as theories of psychotherapy in the doctoral program. I have loved most of the courses thus far at MSP; this is my 5th year as a student here.

What has been your greatest challenge?

My greatest challenge has been the dissertation process. Although I have a topic that I am very passionate about, as well as a wonderful dissertation committee, I feel lonely in this journey as grief and loss have been highly neglected in the psychological literature.
