It’s time for our annual Year in Review! As we look back on each month of the academic year, the MSP community can reflect on the changes and growth we have experienced since September, both individually and as a community. Here’s a look at highlights from May 2024.

On May 3rd, we hosted our 5th Annual Cultural Appreciation Conference featuring a keynote address from Laprisha Daniels, the Executive Director of Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice.

On May 18th, staff and students from MSP and the MSPC participated in a community wellness fair at the Farmington Farmer’s Market.

The Psi Chi chapter at MSP and Dr. Blackstock hosted Game Nights to promote community and raise funds for Autism in the D.

As a part of Career Services Month, Kristier Wyler (MA ’21) presented on job hunting with the TLLP and studying for the EPPP.

Other highlights from May:

Kinsey Tekiele, Coordinator of Admissions & Student Engagement, and Stephanie, one of our MSP librarians, hosted resume building workshops.

Carrie Pyeatt, Director of Student Services, held multiple drop-in session for resume reviews. 

The Structural Racism Programming Committee led a trip to the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History on May 11th. 

Dana Erickson, Communications Coordinator, offered free headshot sessions to students. 

Dr. Farrell hosted a meet & greet to connect with students on May 15th. 

Faculty and Staff gave a presentation on mental health at the Farmington Community Library on May 15th. 

On May 22nd, Kris Picano (MA with ABA ’19) presented on how to prepare to take the BCBA exam. 

The ABPsi SC hosted a Sawubona Healing Circle on May 29th. 

Blogs: We celebrated AAPI Heritage Month and Jewish American Heritage Month, Dennis Brown (PsyD 1, MA with ABA ’23) shared his experience at the 2023 MSP Career Fair, Dr. Robert Willoughby (MA ’16, PsyD ’21) shared what his life after MSP is like, and we learned how to best use technology in grad school.
