Admissions Requirements

MA Admissions Requirements

The Admissions Committee looks for a candidate’s demonstration of exceptional ability in professional background or training. Applicant credentials are evaluated as a composite on the basis of all information submitted in the admission process.

The following criteria are necessary for consideration:

  • a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution;
  • a major in psychology, social work, counseling, or demonstrated equivalent*; and
  • an undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale is preferred**.

In addition, relevant field experience in mental health service is desirable.

*Applicants who do not meet the requirement for the major may be considered by submitting official or unofficial transcripts demonstrating successful completion of approved Introduction to Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, and Developmental Psychology courses. Grades of 3.0 or better must be earned in these three courses.

Applications are reviewed after receipt of all required documents. Individuals who meet all admission criteria may be invited for an interview. Upon completion of the interview, the Admissions Committee will make a decision about acceptance to the program. Please review the deadline and interview dates here.

ABA Certificate Admissions Requirements

The Admissions Committee looks fora  candidate’s demonstration of exceptional ability in professional background or training.  Applicant credentials are evaluated as a composite on the basis of all information submitted in the admission process.

The following criteria are necessary for consideration:

  • a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • a master’s degree from an accredited institution in either psychology, education, counseling, social work, or other approved human services field. Students with a master’s in other fields may be considered if they have experience implementing behavior-analytic therapy
  • an undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale is preferred; a graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale is preferred*.

In addition, relevant field experience in applied behavior analysis is desirable.

Students enrolled in the MA program with an ABA concentration are not required to participate in an additional admissions process.

PsyD Admissions Requirements

MSP seeks individuals who are clinically minded, possess a mature focus, display strong interpersonal skills, demonstrate critical thinking, and who have the goal of becoming a practicing clinician. Well-rounded individuals with proven academic success, professionalism, and an understanding of the field are encouraged to apply. The Admissions Committee looks for a candidate’s demonstration of exceptional ability in professional background or training. Applicant credentials are evaluated as a composite on the basis of all information submitted in the admission process.

The following criteria are necessary for consideration:

  • a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • a master’s degree in psychology, social work, or counseling from an accredited institution
  • graduate-level practicum
  • an undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale is preferred; a graduate GPA of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale is preferred*.

The GRE general test is optional for admission to the PsyD program. For applicants who choose to submit scores, the GRE must have been taken within five years of your intended start term at MSP. The MSP school code is 1413.

The priority deadline for applications is February 3rd (after the priority deadline has passed contact the Admissions Coordinator to discuss the availability of seat openings). All applications that have all required documents will be reviewed after that date. Individuals who meet all admission criteria may be invited for an interview. Upon completion of the interview, the Admissions Committee makes a decision about acceptance to the program.

International Student Admissions Requirements
