CE Workshop: Domestic Human Sex Trafficking

Join Dr. Ann Smith for this Continuing Education Workshop that will inform participants about symptoms and modes of survival, ideas for particular interventions, and suggested modifications in standard protocols, as well as considerations for advocacy for victims of domestic human sex trafficking.

At the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  1. Define domestic human sex trafficking, as well as examine prevalence rates and scope of the problem (particularly in Michigan).
  2. Learn key definitions surrounding domestic human sex trafficking and glean explicit insight into various facets of trafficking.
  3. Understand basic profile information about traffickers, as well as understand the risks, vulnerabilities, and survival tactics of people they target.
  4. Identify treatment needs specific to sexually trafficked women and children and discuss necessary modifications in standard practice protocols or trauma training.
  5. Identify the most up-to-date training resources, as well as suggestions for advocacy of women and children who are actively being trafficked or have been in the past.

Approved by MCBAP for 3 contact hours related to substance abuse.
