The Michigan School of Psychology (MSP), located in Farmington Hills, MI, is a dynamic, independent, not-for-profit higher education institution providing master of arts and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology and a post-masters certificate in applied behavior analysis. MSP seeks talented applicants who are committed to excellence in teaching for a full-time core faculty position. Full-time faculty responsibilities include teaching master’s and doctoral level courses, advising and supervision of students, facilitation of student research, chairing dissertations, and membership on faculty and institutional committees.

Reports to: Vice President of Academics

Employment Classification: Exempt

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teach cognitive, personality, and achievement assessments;
  • Supervise graduate-level trainees;
  • Maintain an active research program and include students and other faculty as appropriate in the process;
  • Possess knowledge of best practices in teaching methods;
  • Possess skills that promote the development of students’ critical thinking;
  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge, experience and expertise relevant to the courses taught; and
  • Be actively involved in discipline-related scholarship.

Workload:

The workload typically consists of:

  • Up to 2 classes per semester (6 classes per academic year), over the course of three semesters (load varies based on other assigned duties);
  • 5-7 clinical supervisees per year;
  • Student advising, dissertation committee work, ongoing accreditation activities/compliance, participation in institutional initiatives, taskforce assignments and committees.

This is a full-time, 12-month, in-person appointment. The school operates on three, thirteen-week semesters. Position begins in the 2024-2025 academic year with the opportunity for a multiple year contract after the first year of successful employment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree in Psychology (PhD/PsyD) from an APA accredited program.
  • Specialization in neuropsychology or testing and assessment preferred.
  • Fully licensed psychologists are preferred; license-eligible will be considered.
  • Post-secondary teaching experience required.
  • A demonstrated commitment to fostering an educational climate of inclusion and diversity.
  • A demonstrated ability to mentor students and supervise student research.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty and professional staff.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to and experience in working with diverse populations; will support the values and vision of MSP; possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills; a commitment to the practitioner-scholar model of teaching; a record of scholarship; and clinical practice or service to the profession. MSP is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the MSP community.

Salary:

$78,000

Benefits:

The faculty role is a full-time salaried position with benefits. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, paid time off, retirement benefits (after one year of service), flexible spending account, dependent care spending account, life, short and long-term disability insurance and an employee assistance program.

This position is exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay for hours worked above 40 in a single workweek.

Working Conditions:

This is not a remote position; work is performed in person on campus.
